After a year of staying within our four walls (or at least within our state) it’s time to get out and support the local tourism and hospitality industries. And with the Easter long weekend coming up quickly we’ve decided to share our top getaway picks.

From country trips in Victoria to beach escapes in Western Australia, read on for Walk-In’s luxe local destinations.

Lorne – VIC

One of the many gems of Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, Lorne is a seaside getaway just two hours drive from Melbourne. With stunning beaches and a Mediterranean coastal vibe, this getaway is perfect to get some fresh sea air and relax.

Browse through Stayz to find a wide range of costal accommodation where you get the best of both the forest and the ocean with their stunning views. If you’re looking for some brunch, head to The Bottle of Milk for truffled mushrooms or a big breakfast and coffee.

Once you’re fuelled up, we’d recommend the Erksine Falls walk to escape into nature. Top off your getaway with a taste of Greece at Ipsos restaurant. A Great Ocean Road institution, this restaurant specialises in modern Greek and Australian cuisine. A relaxing local getaway awaits you in Lorne.

Daylesford – VIC

If the beach isn’t your thing why not head inland to Daylesford in the great Dividing Range. Less than two hours drive away, Daylesford is known for its mineral spring and country town feel. Our recommendations? Experience the luxury of a country escape with accommodation from Luxury Retreats. With a range of houses and cottages available, there’s something for every couple and family here.

When checking out the Botanic Gardens, pop into Wombat Hill House for fresh, delicious breakfast and tea before wandering down the High Street. For dinner, why not try Sault Restaurant? Enjoy scenic views on the balcony that’s set on 125 acres at the modern Australian diner.

Rottnest Island – WA

Heading over to the West Coast now and Rottnest Island is a great (and possibly the cutest) option to escape the city. Known for its adorable Quokkas, Rottnest island is a ferry ride away from Perth.

Enjoy snorkeling, guided walks, climb a lighthouse and enjoy food and drink with ocean views. There are a number of accommodation options but if you want to go all out (and treat yourself) why not book at the Discovery Rottnest Island? Laze by the pool and have some privacy in the self-contained cabins.

For dinner, head down to Aristos for fresh seafood bites and Hotel Rottnest for refreshing drinks and bistro bites.

Bunya Mountains – QLD

Up north, the stunning Bunya Mountains are a nature lovers retreat. With hikes, waterfalls and serenity, the Bunya Mountains make for a lush weekend away.

On the last Sunday of each month there’s a market to check out local wares and homemade gifts, otherwise all year ‘round there are hikes for every ability available as well as Coomba Falls to take a dip in after your walk.

Head to Bunya Bistro for a delicious meal before staying at the luxe Godshill cabins or Rice Log cabins for something a little more family friendly.

Hunter Valley – NSW

Deep in New South Wales’ wine country lies the stunning Hunter Valley region. Get some TLC from The Spa at Chateau Elan and stay at the luxurious Millfield Homestead. Built in 1860, the homestead is just ten minutes drive from the heart of the Hunter Valley where you can find wineries, breweries and restaurants galore.

Don’t miss Restaurant Botanica and The Smelly Cheese Shop (it’s a must do) on your Hunter Valley getaway.
