What’s On?

Free Fashion Runways (Lil’ Hell YEAH!):

Thanks to COVID, a number of runways have moved to online for safety and ease. While this isn’t great for “atmosphere” or the front rowers it does mean that you can enjoy the show for free from your own home.

Runway 1 is filmed against the stunning Melbourne skyline and presents Australian labels such as, E Nolan and Ngali.

Runway 3 takes us to a dream world with Maticevski, Paolo Sebastian and Steven Khalil showcasing their latest collections amongst the backdrop of Redwood Forest.

Runway 5 is held at Australia’s first surf park, URBNPARK outside Melbourne city. Featuring designers such as Commas, Esse, Jacinta James and more, this runway celebrates masculine and tailored designs.

Up-Cycling Pop-UP: Nobody Denim X HoMie:

Iconic Melbourne denim brand Nobody Denim have created a pop-up over fashion week with social enterprise, HoMie. Made from the off-cuts of denim pieces, they’ve been repurposed into a collection when they would’ve been discarded and headed to landfill.

It will be available to purchase with all proceeds going to HoMie to support young people affected by homelessness and hardships. The pop-up will also showcase an installation from local artist and florist, Hattie Molloy.

Meet the Stylists: Jess Pecoraro & Elliot Garnaut

Learn what’s trending this season with stylists Jess Pecoraro and Elliot Garnaut at the Fashion Weekend Live stage.

They’ll share they’re ten favourite pieces and will teach you how to mix low and high brands.

And don’t forget you don’t have to buy new every season! Why not hire your winter look with a piece from Walk-In?

Exciting Exhibitions:

No.13: At George Patton Gallery

Concerned about the 501,000,000 kgs of textiles heading to landfill every year, artist Chelsea Hitman set out to display the data behind why certain garments are being discarded.

The exhibition aims to encourage people to think more holistically about their clothing to create a sustainable future; something we’re incredibly passionate about at Walk-In.

R3vision: MARS Gallery

Focusing on new technologies including AR, VR and photogrammetry the R3vision exhibition showcases a number of innovative artists.

With the COVID lockdowns forcing many aspects of our lives online, this exhibition is a look into fashion experimentation.

Open in Windsor from the 11th – 20th, the exhibition is free so head down to support local artists.

There are heaps more amazing, educational and free events during this unique Melbourne Fashion Festival so get down, see what’s trending, support local designers and rock some rented Walk-In wears!
